Welcome to our world!
Kimi and Mom became a family in March of 2004 when she was 2 years old. She raced in Arizona for a year until she broke a toe and then they tossed her aside so I could find her. Lucky me! Of course she's wonderful, beautiful & great fun to be with. She sleeps like a champion except for the couple of major energy bursts that occur daily. Then she loves to do laps around the dining room table and chase Lima around to remind her who the Head Bitch is here.
Lima found us in March of 2005, also at the tender age of 2. She never got to race on a track, they sent her for training and declared that "she couldn't run as fast as a fat man running downhill" so they tossed her away to the rescue group. Ends up she had tick fever that was never diagnosed or treated. She's healthy and even a bit chubby now. She's the rarest of Greyhound colors-blue. She has the most adorable, loving and fun personality of any dog I've known. She now exists to be loved and to love me. She apparently never had anyone that satisfied her deep affection so now I am bombarded with her attention 24 hours a day! She discoved the complete joy of a squeaky toy and loves to toss them to herself through the day. And lately she's become quite the protector-she patrols the yard for any leaf or twig that falls without her permission and lets them have it much to the chagrin of our quiet, peaceful neighbors.
Together they play and tease and run together like the oldest of friends. They cry if they become seperated-one inside, one outside for instance or if one locks herself in a bedroom when her butt bumps a door closed.
They have lots of pals that visit-actually they think everyone is their pal. People, dogs, birds, pigs, cats, you name it. Well except for bunnies and herons. They now know that they are not on my acceptable visitors list so they chase them from the yard with glee.
I wake to their loving, wet kisses and wiggling butts each day and I cannot imagine my life without their love and affection. These are the best dogs I have ever known and I hope that one day everyone is lucky enough to have at least one rescued greyhound to enhance their world.
